With the two additional middle bands with selectable frequencies and bandwidths, the options are far more vast than the Dangerous.Īs for the Millennia NSEQ-2?.well, it isn't my cup of tea. The 432 may have just a touch of grit or a slight 'analog-ish' edge to it but it sounds good and present to my ears, 'dimensional'. Hats off to IK! I think it is easily as flattering as the new Dangerous EQ, arguably more so.

The Dangerous doesn't offer a lot of different freq cut/boost options but where you can adjust, it sounds quite nice and the words 'solid' or 'strong' come to mind as I listened to the results. In my opinion I thought the 432 and the Dangerous BAX sounded preferable to the material I was auditioning with. I tried all three in a stripped down mastering setup on a few different mixes and A/B/C'd them.largely to taste, though at times I matched some frequencies when possible. I copied my little 'review' below:ĭid some critical demoing between this 432, the UAD/Brainworx Millennia NSEQ-2 and UAD/Brainworx's brand new Dangerous BAX EQ. For the record, I didn't think the BAX was crap. A quick browse through Waves and Universal Audio’s website didn’t turn anything up so I left it there and forgot about it, until the other morning when I was on IK Multimedia’s website and as luck would have it I stumbled across an image of a plug-in that resembled the 432.Just saw this thread re: the 432 - I wrote my little take on my recent experiences demoing the new IK 432, the BAX and the slightly older NSEQ-2 over at the KVRaudio site. I checked the usual hardware emulation haunts to see if there were an emulations of the 432. To my surprise I found a recent Reverb listing for nearly £9,000, well and truly out of my budget. After this experience I searched the net to find out how much these devices change hands for on the used market. This EQ made quite the impression on me, it sounded absolutely stunning across everything we threw at it that day. This particular unit was a Sontech 432 parametric EQ, a device I had not used or heard of before.

I showed the students some cool tone shaping techniques using an outboard EQ that was sitting in their rack. One of the lessons I covered was mastering. This institute had an amazing studio with plenty of outboard gear. Earlier this year I was employed to teach music technology, mixing and mastering for a term at an Arts College.
